Payroll and employer pension

  • As an employer, you normally have to operate PAYE as part of your payroll. PAYE is the HMRC system to collect Income Tax and National Insurance from employment.
  • As an employer, you are responsible for collecting taxes, national insurance contributions, student loans, and pension contributions from the employee’s salary. And pay the deductions along with employer contributions to HMRC and the pension provider.
  • You must file the RTIs following the relevant pay cycle and pay before the deadlines.
  • Failure to do any of the above tasks can result in fines/penalties.
